Abstract

Liver fibrosis is a chronic severe liver disease. One prominent feature of liver fibrosis is the activated Hepatic stellate
cell. Across all the therapeutic tools for liver fibrosis, Mesenchymal stromal cells are widely studied and used. The
MSCs treat liver fibrosis by secreting cargo. One is an extracellular vesicle called an exosome containing proteins and
other secrets. As the critical role of exosomes in the cell’s communication and interchange of substances, more research
is reported. Five types of exosomes from different sources that each have different roles in either promoting or inhibiting
liver fibrosis are reviewed.
