The Impacts of Epidemics on Green innovation: An Empirical Analysis

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of three types of epidemics on green innovation output using interaction terms and a
system of simultaneous equations, using data from around the world from 2010 to 2019 in 66 countries. Our empirical
evidence confirms that epidemic intensity is a key factor influencing green innovation and hindering international
technology spillovers through international and regional R&D investment. Finally, we discuss the policy implications of
our results.
